Trauma 2, or Not to Be

I don’t think "trauma 2" means "trauma to" the staff...

Enloe Hospital is a trauma 2 medical center. What does that mean?

I’m guessing it means we deliver a certain level of care that’s above level 1, or none. It must be important to maintain because we go through commissions and state inspectors to keep it. Even our CEO chose a level 2 center when injured a while back. She’s a nurse and knowledgeable on these matters.

What do you think? This says something about what we do and its effects. I don’t think "trauma 2" means "trauma to" the staff; or, "trauma to" the community.

It means a commitment to a level of care that sets it apart from lower ranked medical centers. We at Enloe and the area need to be treated to a certain level of justice and respect. The Enloe staff needs a certain level of compensation and benefits, not to mention the same consideration, as our neighbors in Red Bluff, Redding and Shasta receive – and I don’t believe they are all level 2 centers. They all out earn and out benefit us, and they all have a voice that we at Enloe, as of yet, don’t have.

Got an opinion? Then, go back to this website's home/front page and punch the ENLOEMEDICINE BLOG button located there, and make a comment or two on our new blog site. It’s our hospital; we can make it better.
